Detlev, a professional Butcher and Sausage Maker, studied as a Butcher Apprentice in Berlin, Germany, and graduated with excellence before immigrating to the United States with his family in the 1970s. Having practiced his craft for 40 years, Detlev makes a large line of homemade German and European fine foods using his professional D. A. Barsch Food Workshop TM , equipped with smoke house and professional food production and development tools. “I believe we have a very unique offering for the Toms River Community. Our clients can count on high quality, authentic German and European foods made on site. We aim for personalized service and memorable, delicious foods which will enhance any get together.”
The store is home to over 50 homemade products made on site, including homemade cold cuts, smoked meats, sausages, salads, ready meals and other specialty foods. The store also carries veal, lamb, pork, and poultry prepared to the customer's unique wishes. Imported breads, candies, jams, and baking items fill the storefront walls. Customers are encouraged to make special orders for items that are not displayed. On most occasions, German-speaking Sales Associates are available for guided taste samplings.
Orders can be placed over the phone by calling 732-240-0422. A morning and lunch grill menu is posted daily. Businesses can call to be added to the morning fax list, where a menu will be sent only when updated.

From the south of Tom's River, go north on the NJ Garden State Pkwy and take exit 83 9 North, Pleasant Plains. At the exit ramp travel 1.3 miles north on Route 9. We'll be on your left hand side just after the Clayton Road Fire Signal.
From the north, go south on the NJ Garden State Pkwy and take exit 82 for 37 East Seaside Heights. As you come off of the exit ramp stay in your immediate right lane and immediately take the on ramp for North Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway. Travel north on the Garden State Parkway and take exit 83 9 North, Pleasant Plains. When you come off the exit ramp travel 1.3 miles north on Route 9. We'll be on your left hand side just after the Flashing Clayton Road Fire Signal.
